A Month of Car Events? Keep Your Tires Ready
With events running across the city for four weeks, there is more reason than usual to be on the road. If you plan to drive to several events, check your tires once at the start and again before any long trip.
- Check pressures when the tires are cold, using the figures on your door-jamb sticker or fuel flap.
- Look for cuts, bulges or uneven wear on the inner shoulders - common on lowered or performance cars.
- Read the four-digit date code on the sidewall (week and year). Tires older than about five or six years deserve a closer look even with tread left.
- Low-profile tires are easily damaged by potholes and kerbs - take car-park ramps slowly.
